Setting up your website template:
WARNING: Because of the large sizes of sound files, you may want to keep your bandwith usage in mind on your account so you don't go over any limits if your site gets very popular. Also, all sound files used on Allwebco hosting MUST be legal for you to use and not infringe on any copyrights.

Step 1:
EDIT FLASH ANIMATION: | Click for more details
Open the "flash.txt" file with Notepad or any text editor, and edit the text following "logo=" with your name or website name. Edit the text following "&logointro=". Be sure not to delete the "logo=" or the "&logointro=". Edit the 7 intro lines, "&intro1" through "&intro7" to update the Flash intro "index.html" phrases. This will update the Flash logo on all pages. If you wish to use a graphic logo, there are instructions later in this document.

Step 2:
EDIT COPYRIGHT: | Click for more details
Open the "copyright.js" file in Notepad or any text editor, and edit the "Name or Band Name" text with your site name. This will update the footer on all pages.

Step 3:
EDIT CONTACT INFO: | Click for more details
Open the "phone.js" file in Notepad or any text editor and edit the website name, address, phone and fax number and e-mail address (edit the e-mail in 2 places). This will update the contact info on the contact page.

Step 4:
EDIT THE CONTACT FORM:

Click for current info on setting up the template forms.

Click for info on adding more fields to the forms.

Click for changing form sizes or colors.

If you want to use only e-mail on the contact page you can remove the contact form from the "contact.htm" between the comment tags.

Step 5:
REPLACE THE GALLERY PICTURES: | Click for more details | Thumbnail Help
The best way to setup the pictures in the gallery is not to actually edit the HTML pages and change the pictures on each individual page. The fastest way is to simply replace the pictures in the "gallery" folder with your own by overwriting the files that are in there now and using the same generic names.

In the "gallery" folder, replace the 36 "Fgallery" pictures with full size photos. Replace the 36 "gallery" pictures with your thumbnails. The thumbnails are now 70 x 47 pixels but you can make them any size that you prefer. Full sized "Fgallery?.jpg" images are now 500 x 333 pixels.

See options below in this document for info on replacing the other template images.

Step 6:
EDIT THE SOUND:
All the sounds used on this template can be found in the "samples" folder.

HOMEPAGE SOUND:
The index.html on this template has a background sound named "intro.mp3" in the "samples" folder. Replace this mp3 with your file named "intro.mp3". To remove the sound see "SOUND ON INTRO AND GALLERY PAGES" later in this document.

GALLERY PAGE SOUNDS:
You can replace "gallery-1.mp3" through "gallery-3.mp3" in the "samples" folder with your mp3 files for the gallery pages. To remove the sound see "SOUND ON INTRO AND GALLERY PAGES" later in this document.

SAMPLES PAGES: | Click for more details
Replace all the .mp3 files in the "samples" folder with your own. Each is named for the page and placement on the page. Example: "song1-1.mp3" is in "samples1.htm", spot 1. "song2-12.mp3" is in "samples2.htm", spot 12. It's quicker to simply replace these mp3 files rather than edit the HTML pages, although you can do this either way. Editing mp3 names in the "samples?.htm" pages is best done in Notepad before you start editing the pages using other HTML software because of the javascript. Click for info on adding more samples to a page or to add more samples pages.

THE SAMPLES PAGES FLASH MP3 PLAYER:
The "samples" pages use .mp3 files and are playing them inside the Allwebco xmp3mini player add-on. You can change the skin of the xmp3mini Flash player by editing the "player-xmp3.js" in the "xmp3Player-mini" folder. Click here to see details and options for the xmp3mini Flash player. Files for the player are located in the "xmp3Player-mini" folder.

Step 7:
EDIT SIDEBAR: | Click for more details
The sidebar is the area on the right side of some pages with the gallery links and the small images. You will find some options at the top of the sidebar.js file. Some may be turned off. For example, another set of links can be shown by choosing "yes" for the "showarea_3" option. Basically you can add anything you want to the sidebar including more links and notes. Copy any "area" in the sidebar to add a new area.

Step 8:
REPLACE THE FLASH INTRO IMAGES: | Click for more details
The Flash XML image changer on the homepage (index.html) is showing 10 .jpg images. Replace these 10 images in the "flash" folder with your own 750 x 175 pixel .jpg images. In the "flash" folder is a file called "image_changer.xml". This file is the changer setup file. Edit this .xml file in Notepad to change how the changer works. You can also add more images to the changer. Click for details.

Step 9:
SETUP THE MERCHANDISE PAGE: | Click for more details
If you are selling items on your website like CDs or T-shirts you will want to edit the "merchandise.htm". See "PAYPAL SHOPPING CART SETUP" below on this page. The images for the merchandise page are located in the "picts" folder.

Step 10:
SETUP THE VIDEO PAGE: | Click for more details
The "video-home.htm" is setup to display 4 Flash videos. You will need to convert your videos to Flash .flv videos and replace the 4 .flv video files in the "flashvideo" folder with your .flv videos. Click link above for details and options.

Step 11:
EDIT PAGES: | Software choices | Notepad Editing
Edit the text on all HTML pages with your information. You can use Expression Web, Frontpage, Dreamweaver, GoLive, any wysiwyg HTML editor or a text editor like Notepad. Take care not to delete any of the HTML tags that surround the text. Set your HTML editor to "preserve existing HTML" in the options if possible.

Step 12:
EDIT TITLES, DESCRIPTIONS AND KEYWORDS: | Click for more details
Open each of the pages and change the titles (at the very top of the page) and the description and keywords with your product or service info. You can edit one page and copy and paste to the other pages. Be careful to only change what's inside the "" so you don't disturb the html code. Page titles are important so your site will get a good listing at Google, Yahoo! and other search engines.

Step 13:
UPLOAD: | Click for more details
Upload the pages on to your hosting company's server using FTP software or Windows Explorer or your control panel. Be sure to upload all template subfolders as folders, and all files in these subfolders. You do not need to upload the "extras" folder.

OPTIONS:

USING A GRAPHIC LOGO:
You can replace the Flash logo with a graphic logo. To do this; move the "header.js" into the "extras" folder. Rename the "graphic_logo_header.js" to "header.js". In the picts folder you will find a graphic called "logo.jpg". Edit this graphic with your logo. It's best to keep this graphic 750 pixels wide or less. If you need your logo added to any Flash animation click here.

TO USE THE OPTIONAL VIDEO INTRO:
To use the video intro page; Move the "index.html" into the extras folder. Rename the "OPTIONAL-VIDEO-intro.htm" to "index.html". Replace the "video-home.flv" in the "flashvideo" folder with your 320 x 240 video. Edit the "intro-video.jpg" in the "picts" folder. Click for more details.

SOUND ON INTRO AND GALLERY PAGES:
To use a different sound in any of these pages you can replace the .mp3 files for intro and gallery 1 through 3 in the "samples" folder. If you want to use a different mp3 file name, edit these HTML pages and replace the "?.mp3" file name in 2 places. To remove the intro or gallery sound delete between the "SOUND CODE, DELETE TO REMOVE" notes in the "index.html" or gallery page.

FLASH VIDEO:
To add more videos or change options see the Flash video support page.

FONTS: | Click for more details
You can change your font colors and sizes by editing the "corporatestyle.css" with a text editor. You can find other font colors by clicking here. You can also change the font sizes in the "corporatestyle.css" file. Change the "TABLE" px size to change the copy on all pages. Change the "title" px size to change all the title sizes.

CHANGING / ADDING MENU BUTTONS: | Click for more details
You can change the names on the buttons like "samples" or "contact" to other names by editing the "menu.js" in Notepad. Only change the one instance of the page name and not the name with the ".htm" after it unless you are adding a new page. Whatever you change in the "menu.js" will update every page on the website. Keep the names short if you have many menu items. You can add more pages by copying one button in the menu.js and pasting it right below the next. Be sure to back up your .js files before you edit them.

Other files with links you can edit include the "menu_gallery.js", menu_video.js and the "sidebar.js".

ADDING PAGES: | Click for more details
You can add pages to your website by copying and pasting any one of the pages and renaming it to whatever you need. You can then add links from the other pages or even add the page to the menu by opening the menu.js and copying and pasting one of the buttons below another. There are notes in the "menu.js" to help you add a button.

PICTURES: | Click for more details
You can replace the pictures with your own. Main page images are now 750 x 80 pixels but you can use any size picture you want and the pages will size them to fit automatically. Each page has it's own picture which is named according to the page it's on. There are also 4 cd.jpg pictures to replace with your own cover art for the merchandise and samples pages. You will find all pictures in the "picts" folder.

SITE MAP PAGE:
The "site_map.htm" is linked from the index.html. It is best not to remove this link so search engines can find your site map and properly list all your pages when users search at major search engines.

PAGE HEIGHTS:
So all your pages will maintain a standard height a "pageheight" class is included in the "corporatestyle.css". Edit this height to any height you need.

THE robots.txt FILE:
The robots.txt file in this template is to STOP search engines from indexing , or listing any files in the "samples", "flashvideo", "xmp3Player-mini" or "downloads" folders. Upload this file to your hosting area. Be careful what you add to this file as it can block search engines.

TO REMOVE THE PAYPAL CART PAGES:
Move the "merchandise.htm" page into your template "extras" folder. Remove the "Merchandise" link section in your "menu.js" and "site_map.htm".

TO REMOVE THE VIDEO PAGE:
Move the "video-home.htm" and "video-1.htm" through "video-4.htm" pages into your template "extras" folder. Move the "flashvideo" folder into your "extras" folder. Remove the "Videos" link section in your "menu.js" and "site_map.htm".
